Laptop hard drive memory has just been raised from 500GB to 1TB, thanks to 333GB per platter technology and Western Digital with their release of the Scorpio Blue 1TB and Scorpio Blue 750GB. The largest desktop currently stores 2TB with a 3.5-inch drive compared to 2.5 inches for a laptop drive. This new drive is 3mm thicker than other laptop drives with their normal thickness of 9.5mm. Both Scorpios come with 8MB of buffer memory and rotate at 5,200rpm.
High capacity storage isn’t all that this drive has to offer. Expect quiet computing with WhisperDrive, Protects against clumsiness with ShockGuard, and the recording heads are ensured not to touch the disk surface with SecurePark.
