More freedom for an author’s passion and opinion is what separates the blogosphere from the straight and unbiased (well, suppose to be) factual reporting of the late, great newspapers.  Sure, we try to keep our posts based on reliable sources and try to keep unbiased but sometimes something just pisses us off and we can’t help to express it to our readers.  Peter Ha from Mobile Crunch pulled out his artistic license – I will actually call it his ‘freedom to bitch license’ – and let his opinion be known about LG’s president’s claim that they will be #2 by 2012.

LG’s president, Ahn Seung-kwon, expressed in an interview how they plan on overtaking Samsung to be the #2 phone maker in the world.  He mentioned in the interview about the release of a new “Black Label” series phone that will compete with the iPhone, a release of a new Prada luxury phone  as well as an expansion of their luxury phone line all together.

This new “Black Label” idea has to not only compete with the iPhone but it needs to compete with Android and the Palm Pre as well.  Perhaps they have some kind of secret technology in this new phone of theirs.  Q4 isn’t all that far away.  We shall see.

Now, they are currently #3.  We must consider that.  They do have a strong product line that is full of great phones that don’t really cost that much.  Let’s face it, not a whole lot can afford iPhones and Palm Pre’s.  They’re stock is pulling its own weight while the rest of the market went down south like the Demon Drop.  Perhaps they interpreted the Mayan calendar and know something that the people at Samsung don’t.

Wait, I know.  Speaking of 2012 and the Mayan’s prediction of the end of the ages at the end of the year; perhaps LG plans on buying the rights to old fashioned land-line phones and when the rest of the world falls into chaos and the satellites come crashing down LG phones will be the only ones that work.  No, that theory doesn’t work because they did say the #2 CELL PHONE maker.  Perhaps we better go to the Mayan calendar and look for any letters that translate into LG.  Maybe the iPhone has a Mayan decoder app.
