A bit about mobile electronics

Dell to Compete with the iPod and the Zune?

delltouchNow let’s not let the rumors fly that Dell is dipping their toes into the cell phone market but it has been circulating that they are developing an Android based mobile media player.  The size is said to be a bit larger than the iPod Touch and without the ability to call Mr. Ed.  The source, comming from the Wall Street Journal, is said to be “people familiar with the company’s plans.”

Our good man Doug Aamoth from Examiner.com discusses how Dell could “do the reverse of what Apple did with the iPhone and iPod touch.”  Dell’s move into the cell phone business would consist of a lot of headaches as Doug mentions.  Carriers, the FCC, competition, perhaps this is far enough for now.

For consumers, though, it’s nice to see another player and more variety in our choices of mobile media players.  I mean, the iPod is nice and all but I was beginning to feel restricted when I just had the iPod and Zune to choose from.
